Our Mission
The Maine Association for Pupil Transportation is a statewide organization, which represents an essential component of effective educational programs. MAPT Promotes safe and efficient travel for school age children to schools and school related events. Supports and encourages professional growth, acts as a conduit to all involved in pupil transportation and advocates for uniform safety standards and procedures.
About Us
Who We Are
The Maine Association for Pupil Transportation is a nonprofit organization of school transportation personnel. Formed in 1971 by a small, dedicated group of transportation supervisors in order to provide training to the school bus driver throughout the state, MAPT has grown to an association consisting of supervisors, directors, administrators, mechanics, trainers, drivers, industry related companies and representatives Department of Education, Maine State Police.
What We Do
Training
Provide six (6) regional safety conferences throughout the state (4 in April and 2 in June); Annual safety conference and trade show held each July at Sugarloaf USA, Workshops for drivers, mechanics, and directors, School Bus Driver Handbook.
Programs
MAPT Maine School Bus Safety Contest, School Bus Driver Appreciation Day, School Bus Driver of the Year Award, National Skills Competitions (bus driver, Mechanics and special needs), Professional Development Series, National Conference Sponsorships, Student Safety Training Committee Programs (Including Buster the Bus) and Mutual Aide Programs.
